A further rise in coronavirus cases in Cornwall has been reported in the latest government figures.
Public Health England said that the number of cases yesterday evening sat at 894 - a rise of three on the previous 24 hours.
The health body is now including Pillar 2 tests – those carried out by commercial partners including at mobile testing centres and those at care homes – alongside Pillar 1 tests, which are analysed in NHS or PHE laboratories and which made up the first stage of the Government's mass testing programme.
The rate of infection in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly now stands at 157 cases per 100,000 people, far lower than the England average of 441.
Across the UK, the number of recorded cases increased by 642 over the same period, to 287,621.
The number of coronavirus-related deaths in Cornwall hospital has stayed static in today's figures from NHS England, remaining at 91.
There has not been a hospital reported death for just over a week now.
However, the Office for National Statistics has been collating data for hospitals, care homes and the wider community and its latest update on Tuesday confirmed that the total of deaths for Cornwall has risen by one on a week previous to 205.
Nationally today another 22 people in England who tested positive for Covid-19 are confirmed to have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 29,013.
Patients were aged between 52 and 99 years old. All patients had known underlying health conditions and their families have been informed.
A further four people died after showing no positive test result for the virus, but where it was documented as a direct or underlying cause on the death certificate.
There were two further deaths reported in the south west region.
