A star of the hit adolescent comedy The Inbetweeners has brought back his character for a radio advert promoting a Porthleven builders merchant.

The Methleigh Bottoms branch of RGB Building Supplies will be among the outlets of the south west building merchants being advertised on the radio by James Buckley.

He is reviving his character Jay Buckley especially for RGB.

In the advert Jay is trying his hand as a tradesman and, in typical Jay fashion, there’s plenty of embellished bragging during conversations with his builder ‘fwends’.

According to Jay, he got a bargain when he bought a left handed hammer and polystyrene nails from a man on the street, has been asked by the Vatican to paint the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, is taking on the renovation of Big Ben, and he invented the internet.

Le Atkinson, branch manager at RGB Porthleven, said: "We'd like to thank James Buckley for bringing Jay back for us.

"He’s such a great character, but maybe not the best builder! We hope everyone enjoys listening to his antics.”

The advert can be heard on Heart FM in the coming weeks.

The Inbetweeners originally ran on E4 for three series between 2008 and 2010, showing the lives of four friends as they tried to become popular at secondary school, and went on to spawn two films.
