MOVIE lovers and vintage fans unite as the all out American drive-in cinema experience comes to Sussex this summer. 

Tucking into some popcorn and watching a film has always been the perfect family trip or date night, but amid the coronavirus pandemic people aren’t jumping at the chance to sit in the movie theatre

Across the UK drive-in cinema’s are popping up to give the nation their cinema-fix, whether it’s a thriller or a comedy you crave the listings are varied and there’s something for everyone. 

Cinestock at the South of England Showground, Haywards Heath 

Set amongst 160 acres of parkland and spread across two arenas, the cinestock events at the South of England Showground are the largest in the country. 

To ensure they meet with government coronavirus guidelines, Cinestock has introduced app based ordering and payment for food and drinks. 

Prices for the events start at £25 per car, including two passengers plus £5 per additional passenger. Tickets are fully refundable.

Grease - Friday, July 17 

The classic musical, Grease, will be shown at the huge in-door drive-in warehouse at the South of England Showground. 

The gates open at 17:00. 

Roll down your windows and sing your heart out! 

Mama Mia - Friday, July 17 

This hit musical, Mama Mia, featuring Meryl Streep will be shown as the late screening on Friday night. 

Also showing in the drive-in cinema, gates open at 20:00.

‘The Drive-In’ by Secret Cinema and Goodwood, Goodwood

To watch a movie in the fast lane, cinema-lovers are now able to drive to Goodwood Motor Circuit to watch a cult-classic or family favourite. 

Secret Cinema and Goodwood have also teamed up with Haagen Dazs to bring you an event of theatre and specially curated ice cream. 

The events have been extremely popular so more film listings have been added to their events calendar.

Later in the year an American vintage style pop up drive-in cinema will be coming to Brighton Marina from October 1. 

At The Drive-In will show cult films such as Back To The Future and The Lion King. 

Tickets are £35 per car and ten free tickets per screening will be available for NHS staff and care workers, as a thank you for their hard work and dedication during the coronavirus crisis.
