Shop owners in Helston fell victim to distraction theft yesterday morning.
A man and a woman entered a shop around 10.45am.They proceeded to remove notes from the cash register and steal the petty cash container.
Both the man and woman were white and had foreign accents.
They were aged in their mid to late 20s and both were wearing surgical-type masks.
The woman distracted a staff member whilst the man searched beside the cash register. He then removed notes from the register drawer.
The petty cash container was also stolen.
The Packet has requested further information about the theft from the police.
Police are advising shop owners to keep cash registers locked and to remove the key.
Incidents like this can be reported to police by calling 999 if the offenders are still in the area or calling 101 for all other information.
