A very similar strong trade to last week but the larger entry included a smaller proportion of premium steers and heifers but the demand remains for all types, several with scope for further fattening.
Leading the heifers were Limousin crosses from the Julian Family at Summercourt selling to a top call of 227p/kg; with a heavier 630kg heifer next in line at 226p/kg realising £1,424; both bought by R.J. Trevarthen Ltd of Roskrow.
Further good Limousin crosses from Messrs. G.W. & H.E. Hawkey of St. Wenn who saw their three steers standing top of the averages with best selling at 226p/kg to David Wilton of Peter Morris Butchers, St. Columb.
Grand 800kg+ steers in from J.B. Old Farms Ltd of Treyarnon Bay, Padstow saw their 837kg Aberdeen Angus x at 190p/kg making £1,590; and 839kg Charolais x realising £1,535, both bought by J.V. Richards Ltd of Perranwell Station.

An excellent entry for early August included a superb run of strong, large frame feeding cattle from East Cornwall together with good numbers of single-suckled steers and heifers and a good run of suckler cows with calves at foot.
Top prices of the day came from a grand run of 20-24 month old cattle on behalf of Messrs. D.S. Poad & Son of St. Mellion which saw their Simmental x steers to £1,290 with a younger four at £1,150, British Blue x trios to £1,170, plus a single Simmental x heifer making £1,040.
Eight super spring-born cattle again this week from the Backway Family of St. Eval saw a Blonde d’Aquitaine/Limousin x steer pair hit £1,110 and Limousin x heifers at 16 months old to £1,065.
A dozen 18 month old suckler-bred Limousin crosses for Mr. E.P. Eustice of Fraddam saw steers to £1,090 and five heifers all at £965.
A cracking Charolais x yearling steer from Mr. C.P. Roth of Tolgus Mount realised £945.
A run of twenty tremendous steers December/January-born from Messrs. W.J. & J.C. Paull of St. Columb Minor were led by four British Blue crosses at £640, and Simmentals to £615 with a 6 month old trio at £605.
