Intentionally driving a van at someone he had been involved in a row with in Falmouth has led to prison for the driver.

Kieran Cocks, whose address was given by police as both Falmouth and Exeter Prison, appeared before Truro Crown Court on Tuesday for sentencing.

It was after the 29-year-old, who is formerly of Helston, pleaded guilty previously to attempting to cause serious injury by dangerous driving.

The court heard that on February 8 this year Cocks been involved in a row with someone at a Falmouth pub, before calling them to New Street.

Here he drove a van at someone twice, the first time just clipping them but the second time causing them to land on the windscreen.

Fortunately they escaped without serious injury.

Judge Simon Carr sentenced Cocks to 21 months in prison. He was also disqualified from driving for two years and five months.

Cocks had previously pleaded not guilty to charges of driving a Vauxhall Astra dangerously in New Street and attempting to unlawfully and maliciously cause grievous bodily harm, when he appeared before Truro Crown Court on February 25.

However, these were later combined into one charge of attempting to cause serious injury by dangerous driving, which he subsequently pleaded guilty to.
