FIREFIGHTERS were called to Penzance in the early hours of this morning (Tuesday) to deal with a fire in the kitchen of a flat.
Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said it was called to Bread Street at 1.24am.
A spokesperson for the fire service said: "Appliances from Penzance and St Just attended this incident; on arrival there was found to be smoke issuing from the property, firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered a first floor flat of a three storey property measuring six by 20 metres and extinguished the fire in the kitchen using a high pressure hosereel jet."
The fire service said there were no further details available at the moment. It has not been revealed whether anyone was inside the property.
