One of Cornwall's most popular riverside pubs has reopened after confirming it is coronavirus free.
The Shipwrights Arms, which overlooks the Helford River, temporarily closed for 24 hours over the weekend as a precautionary measure, over fears that an individual connected to the pub may have come into contact with a suspected case.
However, the pub had since confirmed it was a false alarm and were back open yesterday evening at 6pm.
The management had taken the decision to close as an extra safety measure while waiting for the results of Covid-19 testing on the individual.
Posting on Facebook on Saturday afternoon, they said: "If you are booked in with us for dinner tonight or lunch tomorrow, we are taking a precautionary step to close from now until further notice.
"We are awaiting results from a Covid-19 test due to third party contact. We have not been told to close, nor do we have to, but we want to put the safety of our customers first.
"Depending on the results, we will act in accordance with government guidelines.
"We would like to reiterate that the individual being tested has not shown any symptoms but has been in contact with a potential Covid-19 case who is also awaiting results. We are simply being extra vigilant."
Yesterday, however, they provided an update with the good news that it had been a false alarm and the test results had come back negative.
They added: "We wouldn’t have wanted to operate knowing there was even the slightest risk of spreading things further."
The pub has since gone on to thank everyone who had offered their support over the past two days, with management telling the Packet: "Thank you for everyone's understanding."
