ANOTHER coronavirus death has been registered in Cornwall.

The latest weekly Office for National Statistics (ONS) information, released on Tuesday, shows that one death has been registered in a care home in Cornwall.

The latest figures from the ONS, which has been collating data for deaths in all settings, including hospitals, care homes and the wider community, relate to the week of August 8 and August 14, but were registered up to August 22.

It means that Cornwall's overall coronavirus death toll has risen to 210, a rise of one on the previous week's update, when the first increase since July 21 was confirmed.

There have been no hospital deaths in Cornwall since July 2.

Three further cases of coronavirus have been confirmed for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly in yesterday's latest update.

The figure for the local authority area is now at 970 as of 4.47pm on Tuesday, compared to 967 a day earlier.

Across the UK there have now been 327,798 cases of the virus as of Tuesday afternoon – a rise of 1,184 on the previous day.

The next update is due later today.

The rate of infection in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly stands at 169.6 cases per 100,000 people, far lower than the England average of 503.3.

Nationally, Wednesday's NHS England figures, which only cover hospital deaths due to coronavirus, show that a further nine people who tested positive for coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 29,465.

Patients were aged between 39 and 84 years old. All had known underlying health conditions.

Their families have been informed.

There were no deaths in the south west as a whole.
