A FALMOUTH woman who was diagnosed with cancer in July has begun fundraising for a charity that supports young cancer sufferers, by walking 50 miles.

Natasha McLean has been feeling well during her treatment for liver and colon cancer and says she wants something positive to focus on at this time.

To do this she has set herself the challenge of walking 50 miles during the month of September.

She will be raising money for LARF Cornwall - the Lauren Hoare and Rosie Howis Teenager and Young Persons Cancer Fund based in Truro.

The charity supports teenagers and young adults in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly who are undergoing treatment for cancer and leukaemia.

The couple, who live in Falmouth, have decided to take on the walking challenge together.

They’ll track their progress using the Strava app and will post updates on their Facebook page, so anyone who sponsors them can see how they’re doing throughout the month.

Incredibly, Natasha and Mike have already raised £607, even though their original target was £150.

If you would like to sponsor Natasha and Mike you can donate on their Facebook fundraising page.

Natasha said: "Your contribution will make an impact, whether you donate a little or a lot. Anything helps.

"Thank you for your support."

The charity remembers Lauren and Rosie who met in hospital and became close friends.

Their shared experiences also brought their mums, Tina and Mandy together, supporting each other through their youngest daughters’ illnesses and deaths, giving them the strength to carry on and form the charity in their memory.
