A police chase of a suspected stolen car came to an end last night between Falmouth and Truro when a 'stinger' was used.
Armed officers could be seen at Perranarworthal as part of the police operation, outside a house along that stretch, with a police van also positioned outside the Norway Inn and another further towards Devoran.
Devon and Cornwall Police had initially been alerted at around 3pm about a suspected stolen Audi travelling on the A39 between Falmouth and Truro.
A force spokesperson said: "An area search was carried out for the car and officers deployed to various static points in the area.
"The car was seen approaching Devoran roundabout around 6.15pm and brought to a safe stop with the use of a stinger device."
This involved the use of a spiked strip often known as a stinger on the road, which burst the car's tyres and brought the chase to a safe conclusion.

"A 34-year-old man from Bodmin was also arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and possession of cannabis. He is also still in custody."
The operation also involved members of the Alliance Roads Policing Team and Alliance Armed Response Team.
