There will be a temporary road closure in two areas of Falmouth next month, one of which is scheduled to last for five weeks.

This will begin on Monday, October 5 and is scheduled to continue until November 9 in Penwerris Lane and Symons Hill.

It is so that Western Power Distribution can carry out work.

It will involve engineers creating 93 metres of trenching in the road for a new supply to be brought in and a new substation to be added.

The closure order will be in place in Penwerris Lane between the junction of Symons Hill and Dashwood House, and Symons Hill between the junction of Penwerris Lane and the junction of Stratton Place.

Cornwall Council said the closure was needed due to the work involving the installation of new underground cables.

The closure will be in force 24 hours a day, weekends included, however access to residents, businesses, pedestrians and emergency vehicles will be maintained.

Swanpool Road will also be closed around this time, between the junction of Silverdale Road and the junction from Silverdale Road to Swanpool Road via the west side of Swanpool.

The traffic order comes into force on October 5 so that the footway can be resurfaced, with work expected to be completed by October 16.

The closure will be in force 24 hours a day but on weekdays only.

There will also be a closure on Cliff Road on October 19 between 7.30am and 5pm, and again from October 20 to 23, for Cornwall Council to carry patching works.

It will be in operation between the junction of Gyllyngvase Road and the junction of De Pass Road, between 7.30am and 5pm on weekdays only.

Access to emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.
