This is the unexpected sight that greeted a farmer inspecting his maize field last week.
The Land Rover Defender was in the process of being stripped down.
The vehicle had been stolen overnight on August 25 and was then found in the maize field near Warton in Warwickshire.
A spokesperson for Warwickshire police said: "This Land Rover Defender was stolen overnight and subsequently located and recovered near Warton.
"The vehicle was in the process of being stripped in the middle of a corn field. We have recovered the majority of the vehicle's parts, which were hidden within the field.
The thieves, however, left a rather large clue behind, the spokesperson explained: "Thankfully the suspects left behind their vehicle in their haste to get away."
Enquiries are ongoing.
