A car caught fire on the A3083 on the Lizard yesterday (Thursday).

The road was closed in both directions near Mile End and there was what police called "a significant build up" of traffic.

Consequently, police asked motorists to avoid the road as both firefighters and police dealt with the situation.

Fire crews from Mullion and Helston fire stations attended.

Only an hour before this car fire broke out Bosvigo Road in Truro was closed due to another car fire.
