Students studying on a course at Cornwall College Camborne have been told to self-isolate after one of them tested positive for coronavirus.

The affected student is on the Sports and Military and Protective Services Academy and last attended the college on Thursday last week.

They went on to receive a positive test result on Sunday.

A spokesperson for the The Cornwall College Group said: "On Sunday (September 13), a student who attends our Camborne campus as part of our Sports and Military and Protective Services Academy had confirmation of a positive Covid-19 test.

"We worked with Public Health England and contacted all learners and staff in the student’s course bubble on Sunday evening, asking them to self-isolate for 14 days from the last day of contact (September 10).

"During this period, learners will be taught remotely."

The college said that the campus and all other courses remained open, adding: "No other students or staff need to self-isolate at this time unless they have been told to.

"The safety of our learners and staff is our priority and we are following government guidance."

Anyone with general concerns or queries should call 0330 123 2523 during office hours.

The college said that in case of an emergency learners and parents could contact the college through their designated contact channels.
