Students at Bridgwater & Taunton College’s Cannington campus have been busy undertaking silage making and field work in preparation for sowing winter crops.

Using the latest technology on the fleet of CASE tractors, they have taken full advantage of the auto steer and GPS technologies, and started to learn about the benefits of technology in modern farming to monitor crop establishment over the coming months.

Shane Plowright, course leader for Level 3 Agriculture said: “The students have a fantastic opportunity to learn new skills and gain knowledge by working on our College farm.

"Students learn a wide range of livestock and machinery skills which is reinforced by the theory sessions designed by our specialist teaching team to stretch and challenge.”
