A resident of Mawnan Smith, Falmouth, was visited by the town's mayor in celebration of his centenary birthday.

Ron Talbot of The Fairway, Budock Vean, was presented with a Falmouth Town Council tie pin by councillor Steve Eva in celebration of the date.

Birthday celebrations were kept small in respect to the Covid-19 regulations and took place in Ron's garden. Alongside the mayor, close friends and neighbours also attended to congratulate Ron.

Guests provided cream teas, Ron's favourite coffee cake and 'a bit of bubbly', for the occasion.

Ron was born on August 27, 1920, when David Lloyd George was Prime Minister. He was in the RAF during the Second World War, and was stationed in the Far East including in India and Burma, working on military radars.
