A series of arrests have been made in connection with a stabbing that took place in west Cornwall earlier this month.

It was reported to police that an altercation had taken place on Treganna Road in St Ives between 11.30pm and midnight on Wednesday, September 16, during which the victim suffered a stab wound to the arm.

Emergency found the victim on Chapel Street and the 29-year-old man from Redruth was taken to the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro with injuries that were described as serious but not life-threatening.

Late last night three men - an 18-year-old man, a 21-year-old man and a 20-year-old man, all from Birmingham - were arrested on Joannies Avenue in St Ives are currently in custody in relation to this matter.

Police said that three other men - a 22-year-old man from St Ives, a 17-year-old boy from Birmingham, and a 19-year-old man from St Ives - were also arrested at the scene on suspicion of possession of drugs with intent to supply.

DI Gail Windsor said: “We understand that recent events and the subsequent police activity will have caused some alarm to local residents.

"The neighbourhood policing team will be addressing these concerns with the local community as the investigation takes its course.
