Penryn and the Lizard Peninsula have been added to the list of places in Cornwall where a coronavirus 'cluster' has been recorded.

The latest government map now shows 21 clusters across the county, representing a total of 105 cases.

The map always runs a few days behind, meaning this data is for the period of September 25 through to last Thursday, October 1. Any cases recorded on Friday and over the weekend will not be showing yet.

New clusters have been added at Penryn and also 'The Lizard', which actually takes in a far reaching area that also includes Mullion, St Keverne and the Meneage villages.

On Friday the Packet reported how Mullion fish and chip shop The Galleon would be closed until October 13 after a staff member tested positive for Covid-19.

Marion Pollock, from the shop, said that while confident measures already in place had protected our customers, working in a confined space meant staff needed a period of isolation.

Today's figures are a rise on the 16 clusters showing on Saturday, although the number of cases is lower than the 126 recorded at that time.

The map shows positive cases by 'Middle Super Output Area' - the name the government gives to the break-up of larger towns and groups of neighbouring towns and villages, with groupings covering a greater area than others.

The minimum population each area is 5,000 and the average is 7,200.

Some areas have dropped off the map, as locations with between zero and two cases are not registered.

The map is no longer showing clusters in Penzance and Newquay, but the Camborne, Redruth and Pool area still shows a number of cases.
