Cornwall’s residents are urged to have their say on a draft budget for 2021/22 which prioritises critical frontline services, the most vulnerable residents and investment in Cornwall’s recovery from the coronavirus pandemic in the face of unprecedented financial uncertainty.

Cornwall Council cabinet agreed that the draft budget should be made available for public consultation at the meeting last month (September 16). It is now available for people to comment on either online or in writing.

Cornwall Council deputy leader Cllr Adam Paynter said: “This budget includes some really hard choices we have had to make while we face these current financial demands.

"Our highest priority will always be our residents, especially those who are most vulnerable and have been most affected by the pandemic. This budget reflects that, making sure the money is prioritised to those services.

“It’s very important now that we hear back from residents about what they think. This is a budget for the people of Cornwall so we need to make sure that we hear from as many of you as possible to make sure we have got it right.”

People can give their views by visiting the Council’s engagement website ‘Lets Talk Cornwall’ at https://letstalk.cornwall.gov.uk/budget, or by post to Cornwall Council, The budget, Room 4S, County Hall, Treyew Road, Truro, TR1 3AY.
