Cornwall’s busy events calendar has been left in tatters this year thanks to the coronavirus pandemic.

Difficulties with social distancing and concerns over financial viability have led to widespread event cancellations and annual bonfire night celebrations, hugely popular with families, have also been curtailed.

However, a new event has been created to ensure families can still enjoy fireworks this November - and can watch them from the safety of their own car with a socially distanced space around it.

The concept for the event to be held on Sunday, November 1 at Wadebridge’s Royal Cornwall Showground is simple – drive-in, park up and marvel at a spectacular firework display.

A selection of local food and drink providers will be on hand to serve up a winter warmer menu, including some firework themed pizzas, to complete the traditional bonfire night experience.

Organiser of the event, Bodmin-based Celebration Pyrotechnics, have 30 years’ experience of creating spectacular firework events in the region and are planning a display of epic proportions to wow those attending.

Tom Bricknell from Celebration Pyrotechnics said: “So many bonfire night events across Cornwall are unfortunately unable to go ahead, but with our drive-in format we are delighted to stage a spectacular display for firework lovers to enjoy.

“The event is designed to provide families a safe, social distancing compliant environment to enjoy what will be one of the largest professional fireworks displays we have choreographed and certainly one of the biggest Cornwall has ever seen.”

The well-equipped and spacious venues sloping topography will ensure everyone will have a good view of the aerial spectacle. Tickets, which are limited in number, are on sale online with a VIP ticket option for those wishing to secure the best spot to catch the action, with fast-track access and priority exit once the event concludes.

Tom added: “Families must pre-book their tickets online in advance, and they’ll not need to leave the comfort of their own vehicle to enjoy what will be a truly memorable display.”
