After two years of hard work residents of Breage will now be able to give their views on plan that will determine the future of the village in the coming years.

Last month Breage Parish Council approved the draft of the Neighbourhood Development Plan for Breage to go out to community consultation.

Now people have until December 31 to give feedback on its contents, before it is submitted to Cornwall Council and goes to a public vote.

A spokesperson for the group putting it together said: “The plan reflects the views of the local community in respect of the conservation, development and growth of the parish.

“It has been informed by a number of community events and exhibitions, and a survey of households across the parish.”

He said the current version of the plan had been amended to reflect comments received from parishioners on an earlier consultation draft.

“The broad vision behind the plan is that the parish will continue to be a safe, friendly, sustainable and tranquil place in which to live and work with its coastline and countryside protected from inappropriate development and the quality of its built and natural environment and heritage retained.

“Areas of open space are proposed for retention, with development in the parish’s villages and hamlets focussing on meeting local needs, with community assets, facilities and services to be retained and improved.

“The plan proposes around 50 planning policies to help achieve this vision,” added the spokesperson.

Comments on the plan should be sent to the clerk to Breage Parish Council at the Parish Rooms, to be passed onto the steering group overseeing the preparation of the plan.
