The Eden Project is to be transformed into an enchanting world of light from December 4-30 in a joyful, music-filled celebration of the Christmas season.

As darkness falls, the world-famous Biomes will glow with a warm festive welcome.

Father Christmas and the Elves are returning in an all-new setting for 2020, creating an unforgettable celebration for young and old.

Visitors will be able to enjoy seasonal walks and trails through the spectacular 30-acre Outdoor Gardens, take a whirl on the glittering ice-rink, and warm up with a hot chocolate or festive treat.

In planning the season, Eden is working hard to create a memorable-yet-safe experience.

Announcing the plans, Director of Interpretation Jo Elworthy said: “At the end of this most challenging year, we want people to join us for a beautiful and welcoming Christmas, full of lights and music.

“It will be a chance to connect with those close to you and remember loved ones both near and far.”

The dramatic landscape of the tropical Rainforest Biome will be lit up to create a compelling world of shadows and light.

In the Mediterranean Biome, thousands of dancing, twinkling lights will create a beautiful backdrop to a joyful celebration of Christmas music, performed live by musicians dotted among the gardens and exhibits. Performances are on selected dates between 5pm and 8pm.

This year Father Christmas is bringing his entire magic-making laboratory to take over the top floor of the Core building. Visitors can expect plenty of surprises and a fun show full of warmth and cheer – along with Christmas treats for everyone to take home. The show runs on selected dates between December 4-24.

Capacity for each show will be significantly reduced overall, with a maximum group size of six per booking in line with Government guidelines.

To see Father Christmas, visitors will need to pre-book in advance at £10 per ticket per person (child or adult).

In addition, all guests require valid Eden admission, pass or Membership, and must pre-book a timed entry slot at least 30 minutes before the start of their session.

Timed entry slots for the Christmas experience and Father Christmas tickets will go on sale on Wednesday November 4.

Since re-opening following national lockdown, Eden has operated at reduced visitor capacity with pre-booked time entry for all guests.

There are one-way routes throughout the Outdoor Gardens and Biomes. Visitors will be asked to keep moving at all times through the Christmas experience so that everyone can enjoy the lights and music safely.

A big highlight of the season is Eden’s glittering ice rink, which reopened on October 17, offering 40-minute sessions for skaters of any age and ability.

Social distancing safety measures mean that the rink operates with much-reduced numbers – so skaters have more space than ever before.
