NOTHING compares to the spirit of three crafty Cornish women have vowed to not let Covid ruin their Christmas by setting up their own makers pop-up shop in Truro.

Sinead O’Connor from Sinead’s Silver Design, Naomi Singer from Naomi Singer Glass Design and Clare Tyack from Crafty Inc came up with the idea following a throwaway comment over coffee.

Consequently Cornish Makers, a brand new pop up shop full of locally made, high quality craft, will open on November 2 in Tinners Court, Truro.

Covid-19 put a stop to most of their usual craft fairs, open studios and other selling opportunities, potentially ending their Christmas income and their businesses. They knew of many other makers who were in the same position and so set about finding a solution.

After literally stumbling across their perfect location they were inundated with other makers keen to join the project.

They have now been joined by 18 more local craftspeople making a wide range of products. These include jewellery, textiles, glass, woodwork, ceramics, lighting and more, all made in Cornwall.

The shop will be open 9am – 5pm Monday to Saturday, 10am – 4pm Sundays and will be participating in the Truro late night shopping evenings.

The team are regularly posting on social media with updates about the shop, as well as sneak previews and behind the scenes photos of the exciting work being created. Find Cornish Makers on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
