PEOPLE all over Cornwall fell silent this morning at 11am on Armistice Day as they honoured those who have given their lives all around the world.

A small crowd gathered on the Prince of Wales Pier in Falmouth to observe the two minute silence as wreaths were laid at the war memorial there to remember those who had given their lives during the two world wars and other conflicts around the world.

The standards were lowered at 11am as the bugler played the Last Post and a siren sounded out across the docks observed by a socially distanced crowd that had gathered across the docks.

The service was led by Canon Bill Stuart White with wreaths laid by the Mayor of Falmouth Steve Eva, Coun David Saunby representing Cornwall Council members of the armed services, the fire service, the St Nazaire Society, a representative of the LGBT community and members of the public.
