A new supermarket store is to open near Helston this Friday - creating 20 jobs in the area.

Co-op is set to serve-up a new food store in Rosudgeon following a £530,000 investment.

The Main Road store will run on 100 per cent renewable electricity and includes Post Office services, customer car parking, an in-store bakery and a Costa Coffee Express, as well as the usual mix of fresh produce, ready meals, ready-to-eat food and everyday essentials.

Steve Badcock, Co-op store manager, said: “We are delighted to have the opportunity to make such a significant investment in Rosudgeon and look forward to serving our community.

"The store has a great look and feel, and we have worked to develop the range, choice, products and services locally that will create a really compelling offer and enable the store team to serve the community quickly, easily, safely and, conveniently.”

Students with a TOTUM card - the new name for NUS Extra – will get a ten per cent discount, while the store is also offering Co-op’s Community Shopping Card for those self-isolating or who have been instructed to stay at home.

This makes it easier for other people to shop and pay for essentials on their behalf. Cards can be purchased or topped-up by calling 0800 029 4592, enabling friends, families, neighbours or volunteers to shop for someone else in store.

Martin Trethewey, Co-op area manager, said: “We are committed to connecting communities and making a difference locally, and to operating at the heart of local life.

"We also want customers to know that they can become a member of the Co-op. In addition to unlocking additional value and personalised offers, our members make a difference to local causes, with Co-op now donating two per cent to community causes every time a member swipes their membership card when buying own branded products.”

Members also received 2p in every pound they spend on Co-op branded products added to their membership account balance.
