A FREE event is being offered to charities in the region who need help to secure funding.

Cornwall Community Accountancy Services is hosting a free virtual training session on Thursday, December 10, from 10am until 12pm, to help non-profit organisations to understand more about the grant writing process.

CCAS will be working with Helen Mulhern from Eventy Marketing – a fundraising professional with 20 years’ experience in the sector, to bring this event alongside a question and answer session.

During the Zoom training session, attendees will learn more about trusts – what they are and how they award funding and the documentation that an organisation needs to have in place before approaching a trust - with a particular focus on the accounting information needed.

Debbie Risborough, director of Cornwall Community Accountancy Service, said: “In these times, one of the biggest problems facing charitable organisations is that of funding in order to keep going both now and in the future.

"Many organisations would prefer to be working on their core activities rather than take time away from those to carry out a funding search.

"We are hoping to give people some core things to take away to make that process easier and more time effective. We are delighted to be working with Helen Mulhern, who has many years of success within trust fundraising and will be able to share her experience.”

Helen Mulhern, director of Eventy Marketing, said: “I am extremely proud to be working with CCAS on delivering this event. There are so many fantastic charities in our county doing vital work.

"It is essential that we help these organisations to secure funding in order to be able to continue, especially in the current climate where many other income streams have been hit due to government restrictions.

"I will be explaining what trust fundraising is and how trusts operate, with a focus on the building blocks to put in place, before approaching a trust, in order to make the application process more cost-effective and straight-forward.”

The event has been made possible due to funding by The National Lottery Community Fund.

Those who would like to attend the event can register their interest now at accounts@cornwallcas.org.uk or by calling 0782645777 by Friday, November 27 as places are limited.
