The latest Covid case information for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly has been published - and it shows a fall in the number of new cases.

In the most recent update, as of 4pm on Tuesday, Cornwall is shown to have 20 new cases recorded in the preceding 24 hours.

The government website states that the total number of cases in the local authority area now sits at 3,590.

There were 382 cases recorded in the seven days lead up to November 19. Data from the most recent five days is not shown due to being incomplete.

This represents a weekly rate of 66.8 cases per 100,000 people, with the rolling rate steadily dropping over the previous few days. It is also a good reduction on the average rate from the same day a week earlier, which was 83.4 cases per 100,000 people.

The UK had 11,299 new cases reported, bringing the total to 1,538,794 nationally since the start of the pandemic.

A hospital death in Cornwall was recorded on Saturday - at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust.

The patient died on Thursday, November 19 after testing positive for coronavirus and it was noted in Saturday's figures from NHS England.

The total number of hospital deaths in Cornwall stands at 96, with 70 of them recorded at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust and 26 at the Cornwall Partnerships NHS Trust.

It will add one further death to Cornwall’s overall coronavirus death toll, which on Tuesday last week had risen to 214 in the Office for National Statistics figures, before this death occurred. No new ONS update had been given as the Packet went to press.

Nationally, a further 353 people, who tested positive for the Coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 38,865.

Patients were aged between ten and 100 years old. All except nine - aged 31 to 90 years old - had known underlying health conditions, according to NHS England.

The dates of their death ranged from October 24 to November 23, 2020 with the majority being on or after November 21, and their families have been informed.

Of these, 24 people were from the south west, but none in Cornwall.
