CHRISTMAS trees, festive wreaths and handmade gifts will all be on offer at Whitchurch Rugby Club's Frost Fayre this December.

Open from 2pm to 6pm on both Saturday, December 12 and Sunday, December 13, Edgley Park will be transformed into a winter wonderland for the club's first annual Frost Fayre.

To create the Christmas market mood, there will be an array of food stalls including locally produced honey, Powell's pies and Appleby's cheese, home reared pork, cakes and sweet treats along with the club's festive bar serving drinks and bratwürste.

Visitors can also pop in and see Father Christmas in his grotto to add that extra bit of magic to the festive season for little ones, followed by a trip to the craft corner to keep them entertained.

Various locally produce goods will be on offer, including Christmas trees from Pine and Needles, wreaths, handmade silver jewellery, lip balms and beauty products, woollen hats and scarves, glass works, ornaments, hampers and more.

Club chairman, John Oakden, says he hopes the Frost Fayre will 'bring Whitchurch together' following national lockdown.

"Everyone at Whitchurch Rugby Club is so grateful for the continued support we have received from our members and the community this year," said John.

"Lockdown has been hard on everyone, not least children who've had to miss out on team sports, so being able to bring people together safely again over the festive period is very important to us.

"Stringent safety and hygiene measures will be in place and customers are reminded to wear face masks and adhere to social distancing rules.

"We hope everyone enjoys the Frost Fayre, and the quality bespoke items we have available."

Meanwhile, Sam Wynn, chairman of the Mini and Juniors, added: "Please support our local club and local businesses, come and join us to shop, eat, drink and be merry in the warm and fuzzy knowledge that the gifts have been made with love and the makers you have supported will also have a jolly good Christmas."

Entry costs £2 for adults, which includes a free mulled wine and a mince pie.
