The latest Covid case information for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly has been published.

In the most recent update, as of 4pm today (Saturday, November 28), the local authority area is shown to have 17 new cases recorded in the preceding 24 hours.

The government website states that the total number of cases in the local authority area now sits at 3,685.

There were 290 cases recorded in the seven days lead up to November 23. Data from the most recent five days is not shown due to being incomplete.

This represents a weekly rate of 50.7 cases per 100,000 people, which is a significant drop on last Saturday when there was a rolling rate of 90.2 cases per 100,000 and 483 cases reported during the preceding week.

The UK has had 15,871 new cases reported in the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 1,605,172 nationally since the start of the pandemic.

No hospital deaths have been reported in Cornwall in the past week, since the last confirmed death last Saturday, at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust.

The patient died on Thursday, November 19 after testing positive for coronavirus and it was noted in last Saturday's figures from NHS England.

The total number of hospital deaths in Cornwall stands at 96, with 70 of them recorded at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust and 26 at the Cornwall Partnerships NHS Trust.

Nationally, a further 289 people who tested positive for Covid-19 have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 40,197.

Patients were aged between 27 and 100 years old. All except 16 - aged 45 to 92 - had known underlying health conditions, according to NHS England.

The date of their deaths ranged from October 14 to November 27 and their families have been informed.

Of these, 22 people were in the south west, but none in Cornwall.
