A GROUP of volunteers who have spent the last five years giving up their time to keep Camborne clean have been supported with new equipment.

Paul White founded the Green and Clean of Camborne group in 2015. Since then it has successfully recruited many new members, but the expansion meant that they were running out of equipment.

Paul approached Biffa for help and was thrilled when they agreed to provide litter pickers, gloves, high visibility vests, and hoops to hold the bin bags open.

He said: "On behalf of the Green and Clean of Camborne group I would like to wholeheartedly thank Biffa for their generous donation. This equipment means that we can not only continue our work cleaning up litter in Camborne but do more, as new volunteers join us.

"It is amazing how much better an area can look after just a couple of hours effort.'

As well as planned organised events, members adopt their own specific area to focus on and tidy on a regular basis.

Paul added: "I am proud to be from Camborne and of all the Green and Clean volunteers who give up their time and are taking responsibility for where they live and making it better for everyone.

"The council has limited resources. If we all do a little to improve our environment, it can make a big difference."

The group aims to start official organised events again as soon as it is safe to do so in view of the coronavirus pandemic.
