A man has died this evening after being trapped under a tree, it is understood.

Emergency services were called to Sailors Creek near Flushing, where a number of people live on boats.

Police, the ambulance service, fire service, coastguard and lifeboat were all called, with RNLI confirming that Falmouth Lifeboat launched at 5.35pm this evening.

The police force incident manager initially told the Packet that officers were aware of reports that a person was trapped, but were awaiting an update.

He has since confirmed that a man has been found dead at the scene.

The FIM said: "The circumstances are going to be looked in to but it isn't believed to be suspicious.

"We think it is a very tragic accident, from all the circumstances."

He added that while a full report was still to be made, the "initial suggestion" was that the man had become trapped under a tree as that was the initial report to come in - but that it was still very early stages in the investigation.
