The body of a man has been found on a beach in Newquay this afternoon.
Emergency services including police, coastguards and the RNLI were called at lunchtime today (Wednesday, January 13) to Tolcarne Beach.
It is understood that the body was found at the foot of the cliffs there.
Devon and Cornwall Police have since confirmed that a man has died.
A police spokesperson said: "Police were called at around 12.45pm on Wednesday, January 13 with reports that a body had been found at Tolcarne Beach, Newquay.
"Emergency services including the coastguard have attended the scene where a male was pronounced deceased.
"Officers are working to confirm the identity of the man and enquiries are ongoing."
Newquay's lifeboat and coastguard rescue volunteers have also been supporting police.
A spokesperson for the Maritime and Coastguard Agency said: "The Newquay and St Agnes Coastguard Rescue Teams and the Newquay RNLI lifeboat are currently assisting Devon and Cornwall Police with an incident at Tolcarne Beach in Newquay."
