AN oven fire in a residential property prompted a call to firefighters in Penzance this afternoon.

Firefighters were called to St Clare Street, Penzance at 12:42pm today following a 999 call to the emergency services.

Twp appliances from Penzance attended as well as one from St Just. St Just also sent a 4x4 to the scene.

They used a hose reel top put the fire out before returning back to their respective stations.

A report from Cornwall Fire and Rescue saId: "Appliances were mobilised to an oven on fire in St Clare Street, Penzance following a 999 call at 12:42.

"Two appliances from Penzance, an appliance from St Just, a light 4x4 appliance from St Just and a wholetime officer were mobilised to the scene.

"Crews used a hosereel jet to fight the fire, which is now confirmed as extinguished.

"Our appliances are now beginning to leave the scene and return to their home stations.

"No further details available for this incident."
