The family of a teenager who went missing from Helston, sparking a widespread public appeal, have said she has been found.

Relatives of Holly Budd asked for help in finding her, after the 16-year-old went out for a walk on Thursday evening and did not return.

They asked people to report any sightings of her to them, saying they were "very concerned" about her.

It was later revealed that Holly was also with a friend and various sightings were reported on social media.

Now her family has given an update to say: "Both girls were found safe and well yesterday evening."

They have also publicly thanked everyone who looked out for them, saying: "Thank you so much for all the love and support."

In the original post on Facebook Holly's family said she had gone missing in Helston having last been seen at 6.30pm on Thursday.

Holly's sister Megan wrote: "My sister Holly Budd, 16, has gone missing from Helston, Cornwall and we are very concerned.

"She is roughly 5ft 4in in height, and most like wearing grey jogging bottoms with a black jacket and white Nike trainers.

"She was last seen at 6.30pm leaving her dads house to go out for a walk and didn’t return home. Her phone is switched off and we are unable to get hold of her.

"If anyone has any information on her whereabouts please contact me or Sarah Jane Budd immediately."
