The latest Covid-19 case information for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly has also now been updated.

As of 4pm today (Monday, January 25) there have been 105 new cases in the region recorded in the previous 24 hours.

The total number of cases in the local authority area since the start of the pandemic now sits at 11,582.

There were 1,157 cases recorded in the seven days leading up to January 20. Data from the most recent five days is not shown due to being incomplete.

This represents a weekly rate of 202.3 cases per 100,000 people.

The number of people testing positive for coronavirus in the UK has also increased by 22,195 in 24 hours.

This brings the total to 3,669,658 nationally since the start of the pandemic.

There have now been 6,573,570 people in the UK that have received their first Covid-19 vaccination dose, while 470,478 people have received their second dose.

The number of deaths in Cornwall's hospitals involving patients testing positive for Covid-19 rose again yesterday, with a further eight hospital deaths recorded in the county in Sunday's update (January 24).

Five people died at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust, bringing the total number of deaths relating to the virus in the Trust's hospitals to 121, and three died at the Cornwall Partnerships NHS Trust, bringing the total number of coronavirus-related deaths in its hospitals to 39.

It followed another five people confirmed in Friday's update, three on Thursday and ten on Wednesday, across Cornwall's two hospital trusts.

It brought the total number of deaths relating to the virus in Cornwall's hospitals to 160.

There have been no new hospital deaths recorded here today, but the overall total number of deaths in Cornwall – including deaths in care homes and other settings – has risen to 273 recorded in the 28 days after a positive test result, including three today.

The total number of deaths with Covid-19 simply on the death certificate remains at 257 on the government dashboard, with this figure updated weekly.

Nationally, a further 609 people who tested positive for Covid-19 have died in hospitals in England in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number to 67,046.

Patients were aged between 30 and 101 years old. All except 14 – aged 41 to 96 years old – had known underlying health conditions and their familes have been informed.

The dates of their deaths ranged from December 17, 2020 to 24 January 24, 2021 with the majority being on or after January 15.

Of these, 27 were in the south west.

In the UK overall, another 592 people have died within 28 days of their first positive test result.

This brings the total number of UK deaths within 28 days to 98,531. These figures included people in care home and other settings.
