The latest Covid-19 case information for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly has now been updated - and it shows the number of hospital deaths involving Covid-19 has passed the 200 milestone.

As of 4pm today (Saturday, February 6) there have been 65 new cases recorded in the previous 24 hours.

The total number of cases in the local authority area since the start of the pandemic now sits at 12,852.

The seven-day rolling total of cases has now dropped to 711 cases recorded in the seven days leading up to February 1. Data from the most recent five days is not shown due to being incomplete.

This represents a weekly rate of 124.3 cases per 100,000 people.

The number of people testing positive for coronavirus in the UK has increased by 18,262 in 24 hours.

This brings the total to 3,929,835 nationally since the start of the pandemic.

There have been six further hospital deaths in Cornwall reported today, five of which been recorded at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust (RCHT) and oneo at the Cornwall Partnership NHS Trust (CPT).

This brings the total at RCHT to 152 and the total at CPT to 49.

There have now been 201 Covid-19 deaths in total in Cornwall's hospitals since the start of the pandemic.

The overall total number of deaths in Cornwall – including deaths in care homes and other settings – has risen to 360 recorded in the 28 days after a positive test result, including eight today.

The number of deaths simply with Covid-19 on the death certificate remains at 324, with this figure updated weekly. There was a rise of 43 in the most recent update.

Nationally, a further 571 people who tested positive for Covid-19 have died in hospitals in England in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number to 75,357.

Patients were aged between 17 and 100 years old.

All except 29 - aged 36 to 98 years old - had known underlying health conditions and their families have been informed.

The date of their deaths ranged from December 5, 2020 to February 5, 2021 with the majority being on or after February 1.

Of these, 38 occurred in the south west.

The overall UK figures today show 828 more people to have died within 28 days of their first positive test result.

This takes the total number of UK deaths within 28 days to 112,092. These figures include people in care home and other settings.

As of today (Saturday, February 6) 11,465,210 people in the UK have received their first Covid-19 vaccination dose, while 510,057 people have had their second dose.
