A hotel in Cornwall was evacuated this morning after a small explosion was heard close by.
Police said they were called at around 7.10am today to the Premier Inn at Hayle, where a man was said to be "acting suspiciously."
A small explosion was heard and as a result of the incident, guests were asked to leave the hotel temporarily as a precaution.
Police tape could be seen put up around the entrance of the hotel near Loggans Moor.
It is since believed the noise was from a deodorant cannister exploding underneath a van outside the hotel, which caused a small fire.
Police subsequently arrested a man in connection.
A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Police were called at around 7.10am with a report of a man acting suspiciously outside the Premier Inn, Hayle.
"A suspected deodorant cannister is believed to have exploded underneath a van and caused a small fire. The vehicle was undamaged and drove off.
"Guests were evacuated as a precaution.
"Officers attended and arrested a 24-year-old man in connection with the incident."
Police officers are continuing to carry out enquiries at the scene.
The Packet has contacted Premier Inn for a statement about the incident this morning.
