The number of new cases of Covid-19 in Cornwall has fallen by more than a quarter in the past week, with 65 out of the 72 cluster areas recording just ten cases or under over the space of seven days. 

In the week leading up to February 12 there was a total of 353 cases recorded, which is drop of 136 week-on-week (27.8%). 

The rolling rate of new cases for Cornwall is now 61.7 cases per 100,000 people. This is down from 85.2 cases per 100,000 a week ago, which in turn had almost halved from 160 cases per 100,000 the week before that, at the start of February. 

There are now 26 cluster areas without cases showing on the map: St Just & Land’s End,Penzance Quay, Towednack, Lelant & Carbis Bay, St Ives & Halsetown, Falmouth East, Camborne West, Mylor Bridge & Frogpool, Grampound Road, St Newlyn East and Cubert, Roche & Goss Moor, St Austell East & Carlyon Bay, Lanreath, Pelynt & Polruan, Looe & Polperro, St Breward, Tredethy & Lanivet, Trebetherick & Whitecross, Padstow & St Issey, Dobwalls, Addington & Menheniot, St Germans & St Mellion, Mid Saltash, Saltash Town & Pillmere, Saltash Latchbrook & St Stephens, Callington & Pensilva, Gunnislake & Calstock, St Neot & St Cleer, Crackington & Tintagel, Poundstock & Kilkhampton, Bude & Stratton.

The map only shows clusters when there are at least three confirmed results, with anywhere with between zero and two cases shows white in order to "protect the privacy of individuals and prevent disclosure."

Perranporth & Goonhavern has seen a rise of 16 extra cases from those recorded in last Wednesday's update, to 20 in a week, while Kingsand, Antony & Maryfield is also up an extra 16 cases to 25 over a seven-day period. 

Marazion, St Erth & Gainer Gwithian remains the highest recording cluster at 31 new cases in a week, although this is down from the 42 cases recorded in the weekend update on Saturday. 

The remaining 39 clusters have had between three and nine cases recorded in a weekly period. 

The map shows positive cases by 'Middle Super Output Area' - the name the government gives to the break-up of larger towns and groups of neighbouring towns and villages, with groupings covering a greater area than others.

The minimum population in each area is 5,000 and the average is 7,200.
