The latest information relating to Covid-19 in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly has now been updated.

There have been no new hospital deaths recorded in today's figures, involving a patient testing positive for Covid-19.

The total number of Covid-related deaths at Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust has stayed 190 since yesterday, while at the Cornwall Partnership NHS Trust it is still 61.

The combined number of Covid-19 deaths in total in Cornwall's hospitals since the start of the pandemic is still 251.

The overall number of deaths in Cornwall – including deaths in care homes and other settings – stands at 452 deaths in the 28 days after a positive test.

The number of deaths simply with Covid-19 on the death certificate remains at 473, with 50 extra registered in the week leading up to February 12, the most recent date given. This figure is updated weekly on a Tuesday.

Nationally a further 149 people, who tested positive for the Coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 83,123.

Patients were aged between 23 and 103 years old. All except six (aged 34 to 89 years old) had known underlying health conditions.

Date of death ranges from 8 January to 27 February 2021 with the majority being on or after February 24.

Of those only six deaths were reported in the south west. Their families have been informed.

The overall UK figures show 115 more people to have died within 28 days of their first positive test result.

This takes the total number of UK deaths within 28 days to 122,849. These figures include people in care home and other settings.

As of 4pm today (Sunday, February 28) there have been 9 new cases of Covid-19 recorded in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly in the previous 24 hours.

The total number of cases in the local authority area since the start of the pandemic is now 13,651.

The seven-day rolling total of cases was 174 cases recorded in the seven days leading up to February 23. Data from the most recent five days is not shown due to being incomplete.

This represents a weekly rate of 30.4 cases per 100,000 people.

The number of people testing positive for coronavirus in the UK has increased by 6,035 in 24 hours.

This takes the total to 4,176,554 nationally since the start of the pandemic.

As of today (Sunday, February 28) 20,089,551 people in the UK had received their first Covid-19 vaccination dose, while 796,132 people had their second dose.
