A FALMOUTH man has pleaded guilty to a number of assaults including two on police officers in Helston.

Andrew James Stanton, age 41, of Dracaena Avenue, Falmouth, was arrested after going on the rampage on the streets of Helston on February 5.

He was said to be verbally abusive to passers-by on Coinagehall Street at 1.20pm and 'being aggressive' to people in the street including a security guard, according to a police statement at the time.

He was arrested and taken to Camborne Custody Centre where the assaults on the two police officers happened.

Stanton pleaded guilty to five charges of assault during a hearing at Truro magistrates' court last week.

He was fined £100, ordered to pay £75 compensation, a surcharge of £95 and Crown Prosecution Service Costs of £85 and given a 15 hours community order following an assault by beating of Tristan Mackie on February 5, 2021 at Helston.

He also was also ordered to pay £100 compensation after pleading guilty to assaulting Matthew Upton by beating on February 5, 2021 at Helston.

Also on February 5 at Helston he admitted to assaulting Sunil Shambana by beating him and was ordered to pay compensation of £50.

On the same day he also admitted assault by beating of two police officers, PC Tompkins and PC Jenkin, in the execution of their duties at Camborne. He was ordered to pay £50 compensation to each officer.
