A SMALL changing robe and child size shoes with socks tucked in found on Maenporth Beach prompted a search of the beach and the sea over fears a swimmer may have gone missing.

Falmouth Coastguard Rescue team said the items were found by a member of the public on the beach at 7.56am who then called then reported it over fears a child could have gone in the sea.

The search revealed nothing and, after the team had spoken to people on the beach and builders working on the cafe who had been there all morning, it was decided that the items were probably left there from the previous day after being forgotten.

They have now asked if anyone recognises the items in the photo to get in touch with them.

A report from Falmouth Coastguard team said: "Team tasked to a possible missing swimmer, Maenporth Beach. On scene, a small changing robe and child size shoes with socks tucked in were found, having been reported by a member of the public.

"A search of the beach and water was carried out with nothing found. Investigations were carried out with people on the beach and builders working on the cafe who'd been there for some while previous.

"In agreement with the Coastguard Operations Centre at Falmouth the search was stood down with the belief that these items were likely left over from the previous day. If you've lost the items in the picture, please do get in touch with us via this page."
