Cornwall based cycling team, Saint Piran, have got a new sponsor for the Tour of Britain.

Truro-based modular build company, ISO Spaces, will sponsor the Cornwall-based elite cycling team for the race that will take place in September.

Managing director of ISO Spaces and keen cyclist, Ben Treleaven, recently found himself with a puncture at the site of Bike Chain Ricci in Bissoe – Saint Piran HQ.

Owner of Bike Chain and Team Principal of Saint Piran, Richard Pascoe agreed to fix the puncture if Ben signed ISO Spaces up as a sponsor of the pro cycling team for the Tour of Britain. A new, long-term partnership was born.

Treleaven said: “Ricci made a cheeky ask whilst repairing my puncture, but actually it was something I had wanted to speak to him about for a while. This is just the start of what I see as a long-term commitment from ISO Spaces to support the Cornish cycling team.”

The Tour of Britain is the UK’s biggest bike race. This year - for the first time ever, Cornwall will host the Grand Départ stage of the race. Riders will leave Penzance on September 5 and cover 170km across St Just, St Ives, Hayle, Camborne, Pool and other towns in the county, before moving into Devon for stage two of the race.

The Saint Piran cycling team recently secured UCI Continental status giving them the opportunity to enter the Tour of Britain.

Treleaven added: “We already work with British Cycling and Access Sport to provide cycle storage and charging points for electric bikes, so this felt like a very good fit.

“It’s very important to me that we support Cornwall’s cycling infrastructure, so our partnership with Saint Piran further solidifies our commitment to the sport locally.

“As part of this sponsorship package we’ve committed to sponsor the Saint Piran women’s mountain biking team as well.”

Team principal Richard Pascoe commented: “Modular builds and cycling are a perfect match in the current climate. Not only is cycling great exercise and fun, but it enables transport and is a growing sport in the UK.

“Ben is inspirational in getting turnkey solutions for cycling, including his work with British Cycling to deliver mini cycling centres all over the UK.

“At Saint Piran, we represent excellence as a professional team and yet also want to drive climate change messages, motivate people to get on their bike and showcase what Cornish innovation can do. We’re very grateful to ISO Spaces for their support.”
