The latest information relating to Covid-19 has now been updated, following a delay in today's figures, on the one-year anniversary of the first confirmed case in Cornwall.

There has been one further hospital death recorded in the county in today's figures, involving patients testing positive for Covid-19.

The total number of Covid-related deaths at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust has risen to 194, while at the Cornwall Partnership NHS Trust it stays at 61.

The combined number of Covid-19 deaths in total in Cornwall's hospitals since the start of the pandemic is 255.

The overall number of deaths in Cornwall – including deaths in care homes and other settings – remains at 458 deaths in the 28 days after a positive test, with no new deaths in today's figures due to a difference in the reporting time between NHS England and the Government dashboard.

The number of deaths simply with Covid-19 on the death certificate remains at 502, with 29 extra registered in the week leading up to February 19, the most recent date given. This figure is updated weekly on a Tuesday.

Nationally a further 174 people who tested positive for the Coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 84,091.

Patients were aged between 26 and 102 years old. All except six – aged 61 to 89 years old – had known underlying health conditions and their families have been informed.

The date of the deaths ranged from April 13, 2020 to March 4, 2021, with the majority being on or after March 1.

Of those, 12 were in the South West.

The overall UK figures show 236 more people to have died within 28 days of their first positive test result.

This takes the total number of UK deaths within 28 days to 124,261. These figures include people in care home and other settings.

As of 8.26pm today (Friday, March 5) there have been seven new cases of Covid-19 recorded in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly in the previous 24 hours. 

The total number of cases in the local authority area since the start of the pandemic is now 13,705.

The seven-day rolling total of cases was 120 cases recorded in the seven days leading up to February 28. Data from the most recent five days is not shown due to being incomplete.

This represents a weekly rate of 21.0 cases per 100,000 people.

The number of people testing positive for coronavirus in the UK has increased by 5,947 in 24 hours.

This takes the total to 4,207,304 nationally since the start of the pandemic.

As of today (Friday, March 5) 21,358,815 people in the UK have had received their first Covid-19 vaccination dose, while 1,034,068 people have had their second dose.
