The latest information relating to Covid-19 has now been updated.

There has been no rise in hospital deaths recorded in the county in today's figures, involving patients testing positive for Covid-19.

The total number of Covid-related deaths at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust remains at 195, while at the Cornwall Partnership NHS Trust it stays at 61.

The combined number of Covid-19 deaths in total in Cornwall's hospitals since the start of the pandemic is 256.

A note on the Government dashboard states that owing to processing issues for deaths in England, the numbers of deaths throughout the UK will be updated later.

Yesterday's overall number of deaths in Cornwall – including deaths in care homes and other settings – remained at 458 deaths in the 28 days after a positive test, with no new deaths in the figures.

The number of deaths simply with Covid-19 on the death certificate remains at 502, with 29 extra registered in the week leading up to February 19, the most recent date given. This figure is updated weekly on a Tuesday.

Yesterday's overall UK figures showed 158 more people to have died within 28 days of their first positive test result.

This took the total number of UK deaths within 28 days to 124,419. These figures include people in care home and other settings.

However, the figures for just hospitals, provided by NHS England, have updated as normal.

Nationally a further 90 people who tested positive for the Coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 84,276.

Patients were aged between 34 and 97 years old. All except three – aged 54 to 87 years old – had known underlying health conditions and their families have been informed.

The date of the deaths ranged from January 17 to March 6, 2021, with the majority being on or after March 3.

Of those, two were in the South West.

As of 4pm today (Sunday, March 7) there have been 14 new cases of Covid-19 recorded in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly in the previous 24 hours.

The total number of cases in the local authority area since the start of the pandemic is now 13,724.

Yesterday saw the seven-day rolling total of cases fall below 100 for the first time since September, with 95 cases recorded in the seven days leading up to March 1.

Today the weekly total has risen by two, to 97, in the seven days leading to March 2. Data from the most recent five days is not shown due to being incomplete.

It means the weekly rate has also risen very slightly, to 17 cases per 100,000 people.

The number of people testing positive for coronavirus in the UK has increased by 5,177 in 24 hours.

This takes the total to 4,218,520 nationally since the start of the pandemic.

As of today (Sunday, March 7) 22,213,112 people in the UK have had received their first Covid-19 vaccination dose, while 1,122,402 people have had their second dose.
