The latest information relating to Covid-19 has now been updated.

There has been one further hospital death recorded in the county in today's figures, involving patients testing positive for Covid-19.

The total number of Covid-related deaths at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust has risen to 200 while at the Cornwall Partnership NHS Trust it stays at 61.

The combined number of Covid-19 deaths in total in Cornwall's hospitals since the start of the pandemic is now 261.

The overall number of deaths in Cornwall – including deaths in care homes and other settings – remains at 465 in the 28 days after a positive test, with no rise in today's figures, due to a difference in reporting times for NHS England the Government dashboard.

The number of deaths simply with Covid-19 on the death certificate is 545 registered up to March 5, the most recent data available. This figure is updated weekly on a Tuesday and includes 19 further deaths in the latest total.

Nationally a further 48 people who tested positive for the Coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 85,813.

Patients were aged between 48 and 102 years old. All had known underlying health conditions and their families have been informed.

The date of their deaths ranged from December 17, 2020 to March 21, 2021, with the majority being on or after March 7.

Of these, two were in the south west.

The overall UK figures show 17 more people to have died within 28 days of their first positive test result.

This takes the total number of UK deaths within 28 days to 126,172. These figures include people in care home and other settings.

As of 4pm today (Monday, March 22) there have been 27 new cases of Covid-19 recorded in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly in the previous 24 hours.

The total number of cases in the local authority area since the start of the pandemic is now 13,935.

It is the first time this month that cases have risen about 20.

However, the latest weekly total has actually fallen to 88 cases in the seven days leading to March 17, from 93 yesterday, as the most recent five days are not shown due to incomplete data.

The weekly rate has also fallen, to 15.4 cases per 100,000 people, having risen to 17.0 cases on Saturday. It is still higher than the 11.9 cases per 100,000 a that it dropped to just over a week ago though.

The number of people testing positive for coronavirus in the UK has increased by 5,342 in 24 hours.

This takes the total to 4,301,925 nationally since the start of the pandemic.

As of today (Monday, March 22) 27,997,996 people in the UK have had received their first Covid-19 vaccination dose, while 2,281,384 people have had their second dose.
