A spokesperson for a Helston supermarket has confirmed the details of what happened earlier when a fire broke out in store.

A number of fire vehicles could be seen parked outside Helston Tesco in Clodgey Lane this morning at around 11am.

It was after a small fire broke out in the Timpson unit. The shoe repair and key cutting business is near the front of the store.

Shoppers already inside the supermarket were asked to leave while firefighters went in to investigate.

The shop was closed for around half an hour while this took place.

A spokesperson for Tesco told the Packet: “Our Helston Superstore was closed for around 30 minutes this morning due to a small fire confined to the Timpson unit. The store is now open and trading as normal.”
