Images of what appears to be the start of the fire at Loe Pool beauty spot have surfaced.

The images were sent to The Packet by Nick Bale who was walking on the opposite side of the pool to the blaze, and appear to show the fire in its early stages.

Also present in the pictures are three different people who appear to be aware of the fire occurring in front of them.

Whether these people are those responsible for setting the fire or are attempting to put it out is yet to be confirmed.

The fire, which took place at Loe Pool beauty spot between Porthleven and Helston was discovered last night at was attended to by fire service crews.

The blaze at the popular beauty spot came mere days after Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service issued three days of "wildfire risk warnings" over Friday, Saturday and Sunday

Fire crews had carried out fire patrols due to the heightened risk of fires breaking out in the wild.

Following the recent spell of dry weather across the county, the fire service said it had made for extremely flammable conditions.

The service also posted a series of safety advice posts, aimed at preventing wildfires.

The fire service said: "The brighter weather has been brilliant but has made land dry.

"Help us reduce the wildfires fires that occur every year by avoiding lighting open fires and putting cigarettes right out to prevent wildfires."

Wildfires have been a continues issue this year across the Duchy, with multiple gorse fires breaking out on lands across Cornwall.

Devon and Cornwall Police have been made aware of the photos and contacted for comment.
