A Cornish site-based theatre will be launching a new film tonight (April 21) at 7:30pm.

The hour-long film is an extension of its 2020 audio-visual experience, 'Meet Me at the Edge', which was planned to take place on the cliffs at Botallack on Cornwall’s wild Tin Coast in September 2020, but was unfortunately cancelled due to Covid-19.

Now, for 2021, a culmination of previous work and stories has been developed into a fascinating extended film, which will launch via The Wildworks YouTube channel tonight.

Written by Wildworks Founding Artist Mercedes Kemp and directed by Artistic Director, Mydd Pharo, the team’s journey in sound and landscape explored responses to isolation and connectedness within our communities.

The moving piece of work was partly a response to the Covid-19 pandemic and was an experimental, physical journey into what ‘The Edge’ means to communities and individuals.

The theatre company had an overwhelming response to this question, with submissions coming in from communities everywhere, of people expressing and processing their very own ‘edges’.

Mydd Pharo, Wildworks Artistic Director, said: "We find ourselves standing at a new edge as the world now begins to reopen and get louder.

"We invite viewers at home to take an hour away from it all, to listen and think..."

"What have the events of the past year taught us?

"What old behaviours do we want to set down and leave behind and what do we want to pocket and take with us, as we boldly or tentatively step forward together.

"This film is a unique mosaic of real stories, contributed by real people.

"We feel it’s an important time to be sharing these narratives."

The hour-long video will launch as part of a digital launch party via YouTube with Wildworks’ creative team available to chat and answer questions using the YouTube message thread immediately after.

Mercedes Kemp said: "There are times when one hangs suspended, hovering between the past and the future – there aren’t many times like this.

"Lightheaded, pregnant with possibility, wondering where the next footstep will fall.

"This is one such.”
