The latest information relating to Covid-19 has now been updated and there has been a new hospital death recorded.

Today's daily rise shows 13 new cases in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, after a low four cases yesterday, taking the overall total since the start of the pandemic to 14,174.

The weekly cases have risen again to 68, from 66 yesterday, in the seven days leading up to April 18 – the most recent five days not shown due to incomplete data.

As a result the weekly rate has risen to 11.9 cases per 100,000 people.

The number of people testing positive for coronavirus in the UK has increased by 2,678 in 24 hours. This takes the total to 4,401,109 nationally since the start of the pandemic.

NHS England hospital figures have still not resumed, after a two-week absence, despite the health body saying that the daily statement was only temporarily paused for a week.

However, trust figures today show that one further death has been reported – the first since April 8 – at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust. This was recorded on Wednesday this week, April 21.

The total number of Covid-related deaths at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust is now at 202 while at the Cornwall Partnership NHS Trust it remains at 62.

The combined number of Covid-19 deaths in total in Cornwall's hospitals since the start of the pandemic is now 264.

Despite this the Government dashboard today reports that the overall number of deaths in Cornwall – including deaths in care homes and other settings – is still 468 in the 28 days after a positive test, due to a difference in reporting times.

The number of deaths simply with Covid-19 on the death certificate remains at 567 in the most recent data available. This figure is updated weekly on a Tuesday and includes two further deaths in the latest total.

The overall UK figures show 40 more people to have died within 28 days of their first positive test result. This takes the total number of UK deaths within 28 days to 127,385. These figures include people in care home and other settings.

As of today (Friday, April 23) 33,388,637 people in the UK have had received their first Covid-19 vaccination dose, while 11,623,671 people have had their second dose.
